Difficulties in Defend Your Base From Scary Worm
A ladder on the same bunker: more worm HP, meaner cash checks, faster chew. No extra maps.
Multiple difficulties exist in Defend Your Base From Scary Worm. A complete all-levels video finishes every difficulty on the same night-grass bunker style: printers, farms, spear throwers, mortars, door repair, rares, then the ~16k blue unit. That is the honest part. The other honest part is that a public, complete list of named difficulties is incomplete. This wiki will not invent a twelve-rung ladder, a secret Nightmare+, or Forest / Desert / Freezer / Lava “maps” borrowed from Defend Your Base from 67.
Footage of a full clear walks from easier queues through harder ones and ends on a mode the commentary treats as Impossible. Other sessions mention an Easy-style start. Between those poles, names in the UI can shift with patches (the place launched 28 February 2026 and was last updated 3 September 2026). If a button in your shop does not match a word on this page, trust the live UI. Trust what the mode does even more.
What actually changes when you climb
Difficulties are a pressure ladder on the same plot rules, not extra biomes. You still claim a bunker. You still spend opening cash near 450. You still keep a wooden door near 400 HP. You still hear a boss countdown around 25 seconds. The cream smiling worm still shows a huge HP bar in art and stills (about 748k / 999,999 class) and still heals while it chews.
What gets worse as you climb, from footage and from how a wipe feels:
- Worm HP and heal. The bar is already enormous on easier clears. Harder queues make the heal race louder. Mortars and the blue unit (~120 damage in footage) exist because a spear wall does not outrun a heal forever. See how to beat the worm.
- Cash pressure. Wave 13 is a money check even on a fresh plot. Higher difficulties make that check meaner: repairs, mortar upgrades, and printer ranks all want coins at once. If you skipped how to farm, a harder mode is not a new mechanic — it is bankruptcy with extra chew.
- Door chew. The fail condition does not change. The speed of the tick does. A door you could ignore for ten seconds on an easy queue will sliver if you window-shop a crate on a hard one. How to protect the door stays mandatory.
What does not change:
- Printers behind the bunker, not in the lane.
- Repair on tick, upgrade optional.
- Co-op on a 35-player server still requires your door to live. Read co-op before you assume a stranger’s Impossible clear protects you.
- Gems after a win, exclusive crates after a real gem pile. Gems and exclusive crates is the sink; it is not a difficulty unlock map.
Do not invent maps to explain a wipe
Search results love to sell you another worm game’s biomes. This place is one bunker language. There is no Forest gate. There is no Desert heat. There is no Freezer stall. There is no Lava floor. If a guide tells you to “unlock the next map” to farm a difficulty, it is describing Defend Your Base from 67 or a rumor slide.
A harder mode here is the same wooden door with less room to be greedy. You beat a queue, take gems, expand the same plot, and press a harder button. The all-levels footage does exactly that until the plot is stuffed and the last worm is down. Best builds is the layout of that expansion: starter printer plus spears, mid mortars, endgame blue tiles, walkway still open.
Shop contents stay in the same family across the ladder: printers, farms, spear throwers, mortars, rares, late blue units. Rankings live on the tier list and the turret roster. Difficulty does not swap those roles for a new faction. It asks the same roles to pay more tax at once.
When you are allowed to climb
Climb when all of these are true at once:
- You can explain the fail condition without looking it up (door at zero, not worm at 1 HP).
- At least one printer is upgraded enough that repair and a mortar are both payable. Opening 450 cash is not that state.
- The door stays near 400 without panic during a normal boss window.
- Wave 13 did not empty the shop.
- You are not mid-crate animation. Gems wait.
If a harder mode wipes you in the first chew, drop one step. Rebuild income. Restock mortars. Do not buy a vanity rare to “match the difficulty.” Do not paste a code — there are no public promo codes as of September 2026; the codes hub is empty on purpose.
Use the wave planner and the build checklist as pre-queue tools. They will not name a difficulty that the UI has not shown you. They will tell you whether printers, repair, and DPS exist on the plot you already have.
How to read a difficulty button without a datamine
Public datamines of every mode name, HP multiplier, and cash curve are incomplete. We will not publish a fake table with invented percents. Read the button the way footage reads it:
- If the worm’s bar looks like the stills (~748k toward 999,999) and you still lose, you lost the door, not the datamine.
- If cash dies at wave 13, you under-printed, regardless of the label on the queue.
- If the 25-second countdown is the first time you look at wood, the mode is not “unfair.” You were shopping.
- If you cleared Easy-style pressure with spears and then queued the top button with the same spears, you skipped the mortar spine.
The Scary Worm page is the boss. The economy page is why a harder queue is an income test. This page is only the ladder those sit on. How to play is the win/lose rules that every label still uses: worm at zero with the door up is a win; wood at zero is a loss.
A climb script that does not need a name list
First difficulty you can finish: getting started habits, printer plus leftover spears, door near 400, no crates.
Next step: printer ranks, mortars, replace clipped farms, still no crates during chew.
Late steps: rares as extras, blue ~16k unit on leftover tiles, plot filled, gems banked. Full-clear footage waits until well over 100 gems before an exclusive crate — after the last worm, not instead of a repair.
If the UI shows a name we have not listed: play it as “more HP, more chew, more cash tax” until footage proves otherwise. Check updates after the 3 September 2026 patch for price shifts, not for a new continent.
Friends on a 35-player server can make a climb faster if one person is glued to repair and the others dump mortars. They cannot make a climb into a different game. Adjacent plots still fail one door at a time. Solo players still use the same script; they just cannot outsource the prompt.
Difficulties exist so the same bunker can keep asking for more printers and more splash. They are not a tourist brochure. Keep the wood at 400, keep the farm ticking, and treat every unlabeled harder button as a faster chew — not as a Forest map this game does not ship.
The ladder is real; the wiki’s name sheet is not finished, and that is a sourcing limit, not a secret. Queue the next mode only when your door, your printer, and your mortars already survive the one you just beat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many difficulties are there?
More than one. Full-clear footage finishes every difficulty, including an Impossible-style last step. A complete public name list is still incomplete, so this page describes pressure, not a fake roster.
Does a harder difficulty change the map?
No. Same bunker, same wooden door, same worm. Ignore Forest / Desert / Freezer / Lava guides — those belong to Defend Your Base from 67.
What actually gets harder?
Worm HP and heal, cash pressure (especially around wave 13), and how fast the door is chewed. Repair and printers still decide the run. See how to farm.
When should I queue a harder mode?
When repair and a mortar are both payable, the door stays near 400, and wave 13 did not empty the shop. How to beat the worm is the climb plan.
Do I need co-op to finish every difficulty?
No. 35-player servers help if someone actually repairs. They do not share your fail condition. Read co-op.
Will a code unlock the top difficulty?
No public promo codes are active as of September 2026. Check the codes hub only if a real string appears.
